How Due Next works
Every assignment, reading and grade for every class, in one place. Here's how to start, what the plans include, the few rules, and fixes for common problems.
Getting started
- Open the link in Safari or Chrome. If you tapped it inside Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok or Messenger, tap ⋯ or the share icon and choose Open in browser. Google sign-in doesn't work inside those apps.
- Sign in with Google. Use the same account on your phone and laptop, and your classes show up on both.
- Add your classes. Upload a syllabus and the AI pulls out exams, quizzes, due dates, grade weights, class times, holidays and attendance rules. Or add a class by hand.
- Check the review screen. Nothing is saved until you look it over and tap Add to my classes.
- Put it on your home screen. iPhone: Safari → Share → Add to Home Screen. Mac: Safari → File → Add to Dock. Android: Chrome → ⋮ → Add to Home screen.
How it works
Dashboard
Each class card shows the one thing due next, plus how many more are due this week. Overdue work shows in red at the top. Items you should start early get a Start now tag.
Today
The top of the dashboard shows what's due today. With Pro, it also shows today's classes with one-tap check-in, and a reminder if you forgot to check in for a past class. Check-in choices are Went, Late, Missed, Excused and No class. Tap the same button again to clear it.
Calendar (Pro)
Open Calendar in the menu to see every due date in your class colors, with exams highlighted. Circles mark your classes: filled if you went, red if you missed, hollow if you haven't checked in yet. Tap a day to see everything on it.
Attendance (Pro)
Each class has an Attendance tab with your attendance %, your class times (or tap Use UMass Fall 2026 calendar to skip holidays and breaks), and Mark all as went for classes before you started checking in. When you mark a class Missed, a to-do to get the notes is added, due before your next class. Change the check-in and the to-do goes away. Attendance also counts toward your projected grade and you get warnings like "1 free absence left."
Invite friends
Open Invite friends in the menu to get your personal link. When friends subscribe through it, you earn free Pro: 2 paying friends = 1 free month, 5 = a free semester, 10 = a free school year. A friend counts once their first payment clears and the 7-day refund window passes. Full rules.
Office hours log (Pro)
Log each visit in a class's Notes tab: the date, who you saw and what you talked about. Visits also show on your calendar.
Each class
- To do: your checklist. Check something off and it moves to that class's Completed folder. Things you finished today stay visible until midnight.
- Readings: assigned pages with a time estimate.
- Grades: enter scores to see your current grade and what you need on the rest to get each letter.
- Attendance: check-ins, attendance %, class times and attendance rules.
- Notes: notes for the class, your office hours log, and notes for each assignment.
- Settings: name, color, grade weights, archive or delete the class.
Syllabus changed? (Pro)
Open the class and tap Update from new syllabus. You get a checklist of what's new, what moved and what's gone, and you pick which changes to keep. Your checkmarks, scores and notes stay. Pro gets 2 updates per class each semester, and they don't use up your 8 syllabus reads.
Deleting a class
Class → Settings → Delete class. It asks twice, and the second time you type the class name, so nothing gets deleted by accident. Archive hides a class without deleting it.
Focus timer
A 45-minute focus clock with a 5-minute break, optionally tied to an assignment. Every day you finish a focus session or check something off turns green on your consistency grid.

A syllabus read is one successful AI read that reaches the review screen. Failed reads don't count. Adding assignments by hand is always unlimited. Reads reset each semester (spring, summer, fall).
Cancel any time in the app and keep Pro until the end of what you paid for. Refunds: full refund within 7 days of a charge, as long as you haven't used a Pro-only syllabus read (your 4th or later that semester, or a class update from a new syllabus). See the Terms.
Rules
- Always double-check dates. The AI reads syllabi well but can make mistakes, and professors change dates. Your syllabus, Canvas and your professor are the official source. Due Next is a helper, and meeting deadlines is still up to you.
- One account per person. Don't share your sign-in. Each friend gets their own free account.
- Only upload course materials. Syllabi and schedules are fine. Don't upload other people's private information.
- No abuse. Don't try to get around the read limits or overload the service. Accounts that do may be limited or closed.
- It's still early. Due Next is new and being improved every week. Features and prices may change, and you'll be told before anything you pay for changes.
Your data
- Only you can see your classes. Your data is locked to your Google account, and other users can't read it.
- Syllabus reading: when you tap Read syllabus, the text (or page photos) is sent to Google's Gemini AI through Google Cloud to be read. Under Google Cloud's terms it isn't used to train their AI.
- No selling, no ads. Your data isn't sold or used for advertising.
- You're in control. Delete any assignment or class at any time, and it's removed from all your devices.
Something not working?
Sign-in doesn't work or shows "disallowed_useragent"
You're inside another app's browser (Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok, Messenger). Open the link in Safari or Chrome instead.
The page is blank or grey
Your browser kept an old copy. Try a Private window first. If that works, clear the saved copy: Safari → Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data → search "duenextapp" → Remove. In Chrome, go to Settings → Privacy → Site data.
"Couldn't save that change"
Usually no internet. Your change is kept on the device and syncs when you're back online. If it keeps happening, sign out and sign back in.
The syllabus reader fails or takes too long
Try again once. If it still fails, open "Or paste the text instead" and paste just the schedule and grading parts. Failed reads don't use up your limit.
My classes don't show on my other device
Check you're signed in with the same Google account on both. The email is shown at the bottom of the sidebar.
